    does this excel formula exist?

    I am having an issue finding a formula and wondered whether it actually exists...

    If I have a number of cells each with a value, can Excel place the cell with the highest value in the total cell?

    For example
    A1 = 4
    A2 = 1
    A3 = 1
    A4 = 3
    A5 = 4
    A6 = 2
    I would want the formula cell to let me know that the highest number within all the cells (A1 to A6) is 4 and therefore place a 4 in that cell.

    Hope this makes sense and thank you in advance for your help

    Thank you for making it so difficult to get information from the forum
    I have now managed to get everything I want from another helpful forum funny enough using exactly the same title

    Please close this thread and remove me as a registered user as I do not want to have so much grief getting a simple answer.

    Thank you for your replies, sorry I did not mean to break any rules.
    I am not completely sure where I have gone wrong...
    Should I change the title to cannot find the correct formula"?

    All help always greatly appreciated
    Sorry if there is a slight delay to posts, I am quite mobile today as it also happens to be my birthday :-)
