Vlookup between workbooks stored on dropbox

Does anyone know if data can be retrieved successfully from one work book to another, say VLOOKUP function, if both files are stored on dropbox?

Thanks in advance for any help?

Yes, I have done this. Dropbox replicates your data locally so it works just like any other folder. Have you tried it?

Re: Vlookup between workbooks stored on dropbox

I tried to do this and it worked... mostly.

I was able to successfully reference cells in a different file, which was also in a different directory within dropbox. However, when my co-worker opened the test file, she received and error message saying that some of the content was un-readable. The file opened with the vlookup forumula stripped and the data converted to text

    Any suggestions?

Is there a way I can write the data reference to look for the actual file (rather than a relative) lookup ie.
    =VLOOKUP(A1,HTTP://www.dropbox.com/12345/myfile.xls,4,FALSE)
