    Conditional Formatting IF formula

    Hi

I hope someone can help. I am trying to put conditional formatting to a column in a spreadsheet and it has to cover certain criteria. I have tried loads of formulas but cant get it to work. Below is what I am trying to achieve

    Turns red

    IF
A1 is not blank (not sure if this bit is needed, dont know if i need to assume that blank is not later than today)
    A1 is later than today
    and
    D1 is blank
    Can anyone help please.

    Thank you
