List total sales by region, person or date - Possible VLOOKUP solution?

Hi there

I have a list of all sales by date, region and person. I'm looking to be able to total the sales per person, date or region based on dropdown choices. I'm guessing VLOOKUP (with multiple selections) or possible a macro might solutions to my query? I tend to use pivot tables, however, other users will be using this and they'll probably struggle with it.
