Hi all,
The problem here has to do with a previous thread I post.
Please read the link first:
http://www.excelforum.com/excel-form...le-sheets.html
The workbook I used needed to be shared in order 45 agents to enter simultaneously and add comments. This results in simultaneously saves. In many cases the users couldn t save because the "file was locked by another user" even if I had selected the option were many users could edit the file as a share workbook.
I then kept the workbook as master file.xlsm and added 45 atomic workbooks in the same path in order each user to use his own workbook. I added in the atomic workbooks, formulas (simple equals to each cell which leads to the same cell in the master file) in the columns A-K (which I locked in order the users not to be able to change). When I add data in the master file.xlsm the data go to the atomic workbooks (with an update in the pop up which appears when the user opens the workbook).
And what happened?
If you update the data let s say to agent1.xls the master file.xlsm opens.
I told the users whenever this happens just close the master file.xlsm and continue your work...
But many of them saved the master file.xlsm as a copy in their desktop (don t ask why...) and the links in their atomic workbook changed the path to their desktop and if I add data in the original master file.xlsm their workbooks wont be updated.
So I would like if possible to protect the formulas (I had them locked and protected sheet but they changed anyway) and whatever the users do this whole thing to be safe...
If there is no way to do that maybe we could modify the code that sktneer made in the thread above and when I add data in master file (sheet) it will update not only the sheets in the same file but also the workbooks in the same path
So the formulas won t be needed...
Imagine that it is almost the same thread as above but instead of updating sheets we need to update workbooks (same names as in column A).
Any help?
Sktneer are you here???
(attached you may find the workbook sktneer made in the previous thread which is the master file.xlsm in this thread)
