Multiplication Formula Error

Hello all,
My formula is not returning the correct answer, and I can't seem to figure out why. Here is the formula -

(E3 contains 492.92)

=(E3*.6*0.8359)+(E3*.4) which results correctly in 444.39. I want to multiplty that answer by the preceding cell, so I added *AI3 to the end. AI3 contains 64 so the answer should be 28,440.77, but I am getting 12,865.97??

What am I missing?

Hi Nicole

You are missing a set of parentheses to enclose your formula that will ensure the multiplication is for the total result and not solely (e3*.4).

=((E3*.6*0.8359)+(E3*.4)*AI3) still gives the 12,865.97

Nevermind - I figured it out! I knew it was probably something like this that I was just not grasping. I ended with =(((E3*0.6*0.8359)+(E3*0.4))*AI3) which gave me 28,440.77.

I don't write formulas often, so I'm not as familiar with them. The function box can normally give me what I want!
