    Repeat pattern

I am having difficulty figuring out how to repeat a pattern in excel so I can do a mail merge and number raffle tickets going down a stack rather than across. The pattern that I am trying to repeat would go like this...
    1
    501
    1001
    1501
    2001
    2501
    2
    502
    1002
    1502
    2002
    2502
    3
    503
    1003
    1503
    2003
    2503
I have done this before but for the life of me can not seem to get it to work today. Thanks in advance for any help you can be.

    Re: Repeat pattern

Assuming your have your first 6 values in A1:A6, put this formula in A7:

    =A1+1

then copy this down as far as you need to.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Repeat pattern

..or a slightly more complicated version starting in row 2 copied down

    Formula: copy to clipboard

    =IF(MOD((ROW()-2)/6,1)=0,INT((ROW()-1)/6+1),E1+500)

    Re: Repeat pattern

Assuming your list starts from A20:
    A20:
    =MOD((ROWS($1:20)-ROWS($1:$20)),6)*500+INT((ROWS($1:20)-ROWS($1:$20))/6)+1
    Drag down
Adjust range to adapt your actual file
