markers for error bars in clustered column graph

    hello,
I have a clustered column graph in Excel and I have added the error bars for each category. How do I add a different marker to each category of error bars?
    thank you

error bars only have cap or no cap. There are no markers as such.

You could vary the line colour

thanks. I thought about doing it as a boxplot instead but doesnt let me do it. If I do it as a line graph with error bars the error bars do have markers but they overlap so looks very crowded.

Also how do I reflect that in the legend? I want to remain only with error bars and hide the columns so that I have an error bar graph in the end (as I explained above I can't do it as like graph or other as error bars overlap otherwise)
    thanks

Assuming the markers don't acutally belong to the lines, I'd like to see an example of markers on error bars, can you post example?

Judging by the picture those are markers for the line series and nothing to do with error bars.

You can have alternative markers by using multiple line series

it works ok for just one category (fruits) i have done it already but if I want o add more categories in the same graph then it looks messy as error bars overlap. i want to find a way to overcome this issue

Re: markers for error bars in clustered column graph

I think we are having a terminology confusion.

You mean more series rather than categories. If you use line series then they will all have the same X value for each category,
    1(no time spent)
    2(less time spent)
    3(more time spent)

What you need to do is use xy-scatter rather than lines.

You will need to provide x positions for each of the data points.

Or you could use a different layout for the data points on the secondary axis
