Creating Heat Maps with Text Data

I would like to know is it possible to create a heat map using text data only. How would one create a heat map with text data?

Possible in Excel? I'm sure it is. Wikipedia's entry for heat maps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_map states:

Please see attached. This is a sample of some of my data. I would like to create a heat map with this data. I am looking for consistency patterns. A surface chart does not seen appropriate.
