    Pie chart legends

    Hi,

I have created a series of pie charts from data. Data that is 0 obviously doesn't show up in the chart but the labels do show up in the legend of the chart making it look very complicated.

Is there a piece of VBA or simpler solution to fix this? Have tried using an IF formula so 0 values are errors but they are still shown on the chart.

    Thanks in advance,

    Emily

One simple solution would be to use a different chart type - if you have enough data to make a legend cluttered, there's a very good chance that a pie chart is not the best way of showing your data; often a bar or column is better but it's hard to say without knowing more about your data - if your charts are meant to be compared to each other, a series of adjacent bar charts can be effective.

    Thanks for your quick response.

It really does need to be a pie chart as it is showing activities each person carries out in a day. There are only 4/5 slices showing on each chart but the legend is showing 10-15 because of the activities that a role doesn't spend any time on.

You can use formula to extract into new column values > zero and create the cahrt from here or...delete the 0 entry

One does not necessarily follow from the other. I would still suggest a bar chart, I suspect - they generally make it far easier to compare values within the chart.
