Pivot Table won't calculate the grand total of "% of income"

    Hello,

I have encountered a problem with pivot table and slicers. I created a budget workbook. In it, I put a pivot table that would calculate the budget types (e.g. housing, cellphone, transportation) as a % of "income". However, a grand total for that (red) pivot table does not appear. Also, when I click on a slicer related to the pivot table, the amount displays "#N/A" though when the slicers are not clicked the correct % appears. I would really appreciate help regarding this problem; for some reason, attaching the workbook here does not work

    Thank you,

    Excellearner1990

I seemed to have fixed that particular issue but now when I click refreshed the pivot table with the % of [budget types] shows #n/a for each type though it was working fine before. Also, how do I get to calculate the sum of a pivot table (excluding one item) while accounting that the cell rows may change when refreshed? Any suggestions?

    Personal Budget Template.xlsx
Got it. When you click refreshed in the tab written August 2013, the red pivot table says #n/a and the grand total of expenses has an error too due to it not recognizing the changing cell rows. I attached an 97-2003 version too

Re: Pivot Table won't calculate the grand total of "% of income"

The problem is you don't have any INCOME in your table in august 2013.

You take the % of income.

But in the month august the income is 0.

You try to take an % of 0.

    Excel can't do that.

If you add an row with income. and the refresh the data, the correct data appears.

Please reply, if this explain is clear enough.

Yes, you're right! Everything including my blue pivot table with the grand total of expenses (I made that calculation outside the pivot table with =sum(GETPIVOTDATA..+GETPIVOTDATA...) also seems to work properly. Thank you so much!
