Question Intercept value in chart's trendline options refer to a cell

    Hello,

Does anyone know how to set value of intercept in chart's trendline options to be referred to a value from specified cell rather than input the value directly?
For example, I want the value of intercept in chart's trendline options to be "B2" that means cell B2 consist the real value of intercept.

    Regards.

I don't think you can do that if you must perform the regression using the chart trendline tool.

If you are willing to use the LINEST() function to perform the regression directly in the spreadsheet, you can easily set up the regression to use B2 (or other cell) to set the value of the intercept.

Re: Intercept value in chart's trendline options refer to a cell

Thank you MrShorty and Andy. First I want to apologize that I post two same question in this forum and Excel General forum. I want to delete my first post but I can't find a way to delete it after posting in both of the forum.

For MrShorty, basically I already before know how to use linest function and using the strategy of fixing intercept as the link you gave before. But what I want is to have a chart automatically changing its intercept based on what value on a cell that is used as specified intercept. So now I'm trying to use the udf function that Andy stated at my other post, so I think we just close this thread and move to the other post at http://www.excelforum.com/excel-char...to-a-cell.html.

    Regards,
    David
