Removing space between week columns

Hi all,

On the x axis, my data is sorted by week ie. 14/07/2011; 21/07/2011 and excel automatically generates the days between the weeks whenever it creates the chart. I deleted the days between the weeks by going to Format Axis -> Major unit -> Fixed -> 7 days which does effectively delete the dates but leaves a huge blank space. I've tried reducing the gap between columns by going to Format Data Series -> Gap width -> 0% but not much is changing. Any suggestions ?

Problem was solved by creating a pivot table with the data first then inserting a chart.
