Unhappy How to get totals from 2 workbooks

I want to get the total number of each widget Component associated with each document over the past 9-10 months or by quarter

Notes:
The same Component can be used in multiple documents
Multiple Components per document
Each widget Component has its own part number
Each Document has its own part number

This is the nformation I have from 2 workbooks:

Wkbk 1
1. The Part Number of each Component associated with each document
2. The Quantity of each Component used with each document
3. Document part number

Wkbk 2
1. Document part number, date, month & quarter/FYyy.
A. Ex: Date = 2/21/2013 - Month = FEB 13 - Quarter = Q3 FY13
2. Multiple rows & columns of the same document part number

The following examples are from Wkbk 2
Example of Column Headers
Doc1 Doc2 Doc3 Qty of Widgets per Doc Date Month Quarter

Example of a Rows
1234 abcd -- 6 2/19/2013 FEB 13 Q2 FY13
abcd 7890 wxyz 10 4/2/2013 APR 13 Q3 FY13
wxyz 1234 abcd 2 6/1/2013 JUN 13 Q3 FY13

Confused? Me too. I am a little familiar with Pivot Tables but not enough to configure this for my answer. Any help would be appreciated. I have struggled for a couple of days.

Thx. ThePhnx

Hi and welcome to the forum

Its always hard to try and visualize something like this (well, for me, anyway). I would suggest you upload a sample work book, (all sensitive data removed), showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome is, and how you arrived at that
To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Regards

Thanks FD for the instructions. It took awhile to put the sample together because one wkbk is over 6,000 rows and the other over 20,000. I hope it makes sense and easier to visualize. The time it took to put together the sample emphasis's your point about my first post. Thanks.
