X Axis: Dates as categories

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to create a simple graph but I can't get around this problem.

As you can see in the attached file, the x-axis categories are dates. Since Excel reads them as such, the bars are very far apart. If I plot, say, only two dates, I will have two bars, one on each end of the graph.

I'd like the bars to be wider and closer together.
