Only getting 100% on pivot table for row percentages

Hi, I am struggling to make a pivot table give me percentages. I am fairly new to them and just need this graphs to display each number field, i.e. 7, 8 and 9 as percentage of the other 3 factors in the field. I notice there are no row totals in the pivot data table despite adding the grand totals for rows in options. I attached below (hope it works) the excel with 2 spreadsheets one without any % and another with (total of row % on the 4 tags) but it just shows 100% whatever I do. Any help greatly appreciated!

Try right Show as % of grand total.

Thanks for the response but I'm not sure what you mean Norie, there is no % of grand total in the value field settings and % of total doesn't work. If there something else I've missed with that?

There is an option for each field to show as % of Grand Total.

To find it right click the field, select Show Values As as and select % of Grand Total.

Re: Only getting 100% on pivot table for row percentages

I just realised I didn't say im using excel 2007 and when I right click and select value field settings with the tab show value as the options are:

    Normal
    Difference from
    % of
    % Difference from
    Running total in
    % of Column
    % of Row
    % of Total
    Index

I have tried many for several hours, none of these work, is this where % of grand total should be? I think the problem here is that there is no rows grand total, despite my enabling it in options so the option isn't in the value field settings. Is there another way to get this? or some other way around the problem?

Did you try % of total or % of Column?

Yea, spent a long time tooling around with it, but % of column would be the wrong % anyway.

    Hi darq

Can you not drag Number field into the values, right click one of those values in the new field which has been created, Show Value As, % of Grand Total.
    Regards Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

To put number field in values distorts the graphs and doesn't seem to create any grand totals unfortunately, so there's no option for it but thanks for the idea!

Well any would be a start but a percentage by number really. So number 7 has a percentage of 100% then then number 8 and 9 would be broken into 4 percentages so simply % by row.

Why would 7 have a percentage of 100%?

What exactly are trying to find the percentage of?

Re: Only getting 100% on pivot table for row percentages

i am looking for % by row... so 7 has only one tag, the other 2 numbers have 4 tags so percentages for those numbers will be about 80%, 5%, 10%, 8% for number 8. Something like that but i cant make the pivot table produce any percentages.

your data won't allow that-you need to have the tag number as one field in the data not as four separate value fields
