If condition is met add to chart.

Sorry if this has already been answered but I tried searching, but dont know exact terms to search for, just tried a bunch of things that described my problem and found nothing.

I need to make a chart for work total number/valid complaints.

The excel spreadsheet we use has the complaint and breaks it down into one of 7-8 categories which would need to be broken down into chart. Then we also need to see two different charts, one that has the total number of each category that are valid, and then just a total of made complaints.

In column D we list whether the complaint is valid/invalid
In columns E-M are our categories using a "X" in whichever column is the valid category for that listing.

Up till now we just copied the spreadsheet and deleted all the invalid complaints and made the chart off there, but I know there has to be a easier way. Sorry that I do not know, I am considered a go to guy for excel at work, but never worked with charts at all, and I only learn stuff as needed on my own, never had any real training.

I attached the parts of the spreadsheet this would encompass.

Thank you for any help or suggestions that you can offer in advance.

    Hi neox,

You can use pivot table to filter data for X and then you can create a chart after that... can you share what chart you used to create? thx

Here is the way we have been doing it. Two spreadsheets and two charts.

So you are using count formula to get the results..
so if you able to get the count of 1 in front of Yes, that will be ok.. correct ?

Great got it! Thanks so much, like I said no idea what I am doing but dont wanna look stupid (like I am) at work.

Now they also asked if we can make another group of charts breaking the valid complaints down by operator? Can that be done using current setup? Or would it need to be reworked?

Re: If condition is met add to chart.

All I want is column A to be shown on a chart. The values being how many times someones initials show up. Researching I found that its most likely a pivot table but isnt there a easy way that excel will just count each instance up?

    Like SJP is 4
    DAS is 3
    etc....

Then show those values on another chart.
