Needed to group Numbers in Pivot Table

Dear Friends,
I need to group numbers in Pivot Table. This may be silly. But I am stuck .
I attached a file.Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for your quick response. 451379470-9489 . I mean 451379470 to 451379489. In the actual Pivot Table
I get a long report . I want to consolidate the numbers . If the numbers are in continuous , I want to shrink it.

Thanks for the reply.I need grouping to be done for each items.
And also in THREEGDUMMY SERIAL NO 451379490 IS FREE. After that
Serial Numbers from 451387206 to 7209 it should also be grouped.
Whenever the category and type are same and if the serial numbers
are in continuos it should be grouped.Hope you understand.How you did
this . Please explain.

Hi,
At present I am taking the report without serial Numbers. If I include the serial Numbers,
the report becomes lengthy . As I have to take the report daily , I need the report to be precise.

Dear nadarajan,
Grouping within a Pivot table is easy. Take the field to row labels highlight the items you want in one group then right click and select the group option and Pivot Table will group it for you. You will get a new column with same header followed with number 2. You can change the column header and also change the name Group1. Hope this helps.

I need to generate grouping automatically.Because I have to generate daily, weekly
and Monthly Reports. Whenever the category and type are same and if the serial numbers
are in continuos it should be grouped automatically while generating Pivot table.Is it possible So??

To my understanding there are two ways to do it
1. Do it once on your pivot table and keep refreshing the table once data is updated.
2. The other option could be using a VBA and that is something i am still wanting to learn. I think you should post a new thread under VBA seeking help in grouping.

The Range will differ according to the sales.So it is not possible one. VBA is the
other option.I too not much aware about VBA.Let me try
