    Chart Problems

    Hello,

    SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!
I've seen Palmetto's response, and I need additional assistance.
My chart skills have gotten rusty. Please bear with me.
    1. If your data is in one worksheet and the chart will be in another -- Which is better, to insert chart on the worksheet where the data is, and then move the chart? Or to go to the worksheet where the chart will be? How do you link the data?
    2. How do you change the color of a pie slice or a bar column?
    3. If I have to use a text box, how do I put a formula referring back to my data? I can't get the text box to stay on the screen.
    4. When I use the handles and make my chart bigger, the title falls off the page and I can't get it back. I have no room underneath the bottom of the pie.
    5. How do you add a footer to the chart? I don't mean the worksheet - I mean at the bottom of the chart. Thanks. Posted in Charting forum.

    Chart Problems

    1. It's a matter of preference. It is, generally, easier to create the chart on the data page because you don't have to navigate to the page to select the series data for the chart. If you create a chart on another sheet, you simply navigate to the correct sheet to select the ranges for each series on the chart.

    2. Counts and percentages should not be combined due to the significant differences in scale. It is better to allow the user to dynamically select which value to report. This is achieved by using a dynamic chart that allows the user to make the selection.

    3. Don't use a textbox - see above.

    4. Can't help here. I've never seen a chart title expand beyond the chart area. Might be best to upload a workbook showing this issue (someone else may know the answer)

    5. Make the chart active, goto the ribbon menu > Page Layout > Margins > Custom Margins > Header/Footer tab in the dialog.
