Question Substitute text for data symbols?

Is there a way to substitute text stored in cells for plot point symbols in a scatterplot?

Referring to the screen capture, Excel 2007 plots series ABC and TUV against the "Rat" column, using a square for series ABC and a diamond for series TUV.

What I would like to do instead is have Excel plot the corresponding value in the ABC text column instead of the square. For example, for the first row, where Rat=3.1 and ABC=1.8, I want it to have "A1" instead of the square symbol displayed in the scatterplot.

    Thanks.

Chris, thanks for the link, - unfortunately his code generates run time errors in Excel 2007 - I just tried it. The person who created the code admits it's rough, and I don't know VB. Also, his example was a straight plot of one series against another. I'm trying to plot two or more series against a third series.

    Hello
Take a look at the attached file. Is this what you're looking to do?

It uses the data labels linked to cells to show the data points. However, might be time consuming to set up if you have a lot of data.

    Hope this helps.

DBY, yes, I did figure the manual way with the "=", and it is what I'm trying to do, but was hoping for a way to automate the process. I see that I didn't make that clear in my original post.
