Lightbulb Can I set baseline and measure peak height?

Hi all. I'm trying to analyze some FT-IR spectra using Excel and was wondering if there was a way to set custom baselines on charts and measure peak heights from the newly set baseline. The graphs don't need to look pretty, I just need the peak heights. Any ideas?

Do you have the raw data the graphs are/will be based on? I don't think you are going to get this (not very easily anyway) in the chart. If you have a data table with the signal values, you should be able to work something up in the spreadsheet. In general terms, I expect it would look something like:

    1) Select the entries from the table that you want to be "baseline." I assume these will be one on each side of the peak.
    2) Locate the "x value" for the peak height.
    3) Interpolate the baseline points to the "x value" for the top of the peak to get the "baseline" value for the bottom of the peak.
    4) look up the value for the top of the peak and subtract.

Does that sound like something that will work with the data set you have?
