    Bar graph editing help

    Hey all,

I have a two part question. I am creating a bar graph for rating certain categories. 9 is worst and 1 is the best. My first problem is that I can't get the bar graph to count up from 9 to 1. The second problem is I want to move the Vertical Axis labels on top of the actual bar or directly above each individual bar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I've been wondering if someone else will jump in with an elegant solution for you... since they haven't, I can offer a not-so-elegant solution!

For your first question at least.

To set your axis to count from 9 to 1, you'll need to use negative values (-9 to -1) and then you can format the displayed numbers to remove the negative sign.

Then you'll notice that the bars are probably starting from the wrong end. The way to fix this is to use a stacked chart and set the series at the end closest 1 to no fill.

Next you'll have to mess with the formulas to show the correct value on the other end, hopefully that becomes obvious.

If any of that doesn't make sense, perhaps you can upload a small example?

As for your second question, I'm not entirely sure what you're asking so if you do upload an example, maybe pop a text box where you're wanting to see the labels?

I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
    Thanks.
