Dual Axis label With Non Adjacent Data?

Hey guys,

I have finally come across a charting issue which I cannot solve. Essentially what i am trying to do is create a continuous line chart that is separated by two categories on the X axis; Years, and the 13 periods within each year. I am able to achieve this by rearranging the data, however, it makes it very tedious to add data as well as to view it. I have included a copy of my file so you can get a better idea of what im trying to do. The chart on the right is the end result i wish to achieve but i would like to use the data as laid out in the top left corner. My question for you is how would i go about selecting the data for the x axis if its a non adjacent range?

Also, I would be open to separating the data sets only by year and removing the individual period label. However, I am unable to chart the individual year spanning over all data points. Instead, when i try to graph it, excel sets the year to the first data point only.

You can do it by adding another dummy series for the Year labels.

Much better to construct correctly laid out data for the chart.

Wow that looks great Andy! Maybe im losing it here but i cannot seem to duplicate what you did there. Everytime i change the data label selection for series 2, excel automatically changes series 1. Is there a trick to doing this? Thank you again!
