I have seriously exceeded my capability -- complex chart requirement

    Hi guys

I have spent the best part of a day attempting something in Excel but either it is beyond me or the program (most likely me). In essence I need to show quarterly statistics from 8 people over a 12 month period. The catch is I would like to make it a chart that shows favourable, neutral or unfavourable data sets within each quarterly column for each individual. I cannot figure out how to make each column stacked while retaining the quarterly per individual look. In the attached I would like the four columns for each person to represent the stacked data in columns C, D and E rather than just the total in F.

    Unfortunately that's only part 1.

I'd also like to show in a line graph the cumulative favourability rating for each individual (Data set in Column G) I have figured out how to mix a line and column chart but when I do so it spreads the column G data across the whole graph. I'd like to contain it within the four quarterly columns for each individual. In essence I need 8 separate little lines within each individual's section. The column G data is a separate data source and scale that is not related to C,D and E ... not sure if that will cause problems.

Many thanks in advance for any advice. I'm going mad.

    Hi
is the attached what you want?

you can get side by side stacked bars for each person by using two layers for your x-axis labels (the x-axis labels are in range A2:B33)

I have replace the long dates with Q1 Q2 etc so they are of a manageable length

I have cheated a bit with the average line and broken the data into two lines, alternating between each person. Alternatively, you could have a single line and introduce a space between each person in the x-axis range, but this will add a point on your x axis

NickyC ... thankyou so much. That's exactly what I needed. Now I just need to work out how you did it. Many Thanks
