Dates on Horizontal Axis Cross Chart Area Border

On an X-Y scatter chart I have dates in the mm/dd/yyyy format aligned vertically on the horizontal axis so they don't run over each other. But they fall off the edge of the chart area. A picture is attached in a Word 2007 file.

I can use a work around of removing the chart area boundary line and fill, but I feel like I'm missing something and shouldn't have to do that.

Is there a margin on the chart area somewhere that I can set?

    Using Excel 2007.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Select and resize the Plot area. This is the inner area of the chart, which sits inside the chart area. Use the Layout ribbon on the Chart tools. On the left is a drop down to select chart elements. Click Plot Area, then resize with the handles.

    cheers,

Well duh! Of course re-sizing the plot area does the trick. Why didn't I think of that? No, really. Why didn't I think of that?

Anyway, thank you very much for the solution.

    Phil
