Want to add data labels to a simple line graph

Hey, i have been trying to add some simple data labels to a basic line graph, here is the graph i have and the data i want to use - basically the vertical axis will to the tally, the horizontal will be the date. i would also like to add labels to every date/tally point that displays the #hands (the data in the C column of the table):

here is what the graph i have made so far looks like:

I would like to add hands as a data label to every point that has been plotted on the graph - i want it to look like this (i made this on photoshop to show what i want the graph to look like):

I have tried but can't seem to get labels that are not in the X, Y axis data, which seems crazy bc this seems like one of the most simple ways to display data on a graph. Maybe i am being very stupid if i am then please accept my apology in advance

You have attached an image. That's not very easy to work with. We have to re-type your information before we can begin to address your problem. That will put a lot of people off completely. Not only that, but (depending on their choice of browser) many members cannot even see the image.

Will you please attach a SMALL sample Excel workbook (10-20 rows of data is usually enough)? Please don't attach a picture of one (no-one will want to re-type all your stuff before starting).

1. Make sure that your sample data are truly REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

3. Make sure that all confidential information is removed first!!

4. Try to avoid using merged cells. They cause lots of problems!

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

IMO, the easiest way, by far, to do what you want in 2010 and earlier is to use Rob Bovey's free XY chart labeler add-in ( appspro.com ).
