    Stacked Bar Chart -

    Howdy ! quick question for everyone. I'm running Excel 2003 and have a 500 line spreadsheet that contains three columns - name, start date time & duration;

    I am creating a stached bar chart that visually shows the data in timeline format. (aka, floating bar chart)

    The question/problem I have is, the amount of data... I can't possibly fit all 500 lines in a chart that will be readable; I was hoping I could create the chart and somehow have excel be smart enough to either "chunk up" the chart itself without me having to do it myself by selecting, say, 60 lines at a time, or have the ability to insert page breaks inside the chart so that the first 60 records print on one page, followed by the next 60 on the next page, etc.... Obviously, I need the chart to be readable. I don't necessarily have to print the chart as web page format would work just as well, but even if I save it in web page format, the size of the page is whatever the size of the page selected is (legal, letter, etc); I can't make it bigger. As I said, I'm trying to avoid me having to chunk up the data myself.

    Any thoughts, suggestions, criticisms would be much appreciated.

    Thank you !!

    Hello orsini, welcome to the forum.

    You can create dynamic ranges and build your chart on these. The attached file shows an example where data is charted in chunks of 5 rows.

    An Index formula determines the range based on the start row and end row, which in turn is derived from the "set" number entered in G2.

    cheers
