    Changing Chart ranges

    Hi All,

I have a spreadsheet with a large amount of data, lets say there is a dozen series (columns) and 50 values (rows).

I have set up a number of charts to view the series and have set them to view all 50 rows.

The charts, while sometime useful when viewing all 50 rows, is quite busy. I would like to change the view to segments of the data for a more detailed view, almost like zooming in.

In one example I want to view only rows 5 to 22 for all charts.

One idea I tried was to enter the start and end row numbers into a cell of my data worksheet and then reference the chart range to this input. I have tried using something like INDIRECT, but that doesn't appear to work.

Is there any tricks within Excel that I should try?

    Hi,

have a look around Jon Peltier's site, especially

    http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/Dynamics.html
    and
    http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/ChartByControl.html
    and
    http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/ParallelCoord.html

This may give you some ideas on what's doable. If you get stuck, come back with a sample of how far you got

    cheers
