    adding extra data labels

    hello there,

I am doing bar graphs like the one I am attaching

the graph axis needs to be % and show the % sign, this is achieved
however the values for each bar, while being % values, should not display the % sign --- I asked that in another thread, but help will be welcome as well.

then the second and more tricky question
I have do display the actual values (not the percentage ones) somehow in the graph for each of the vars

anybody can help we with that?

I've heard there is some trick with an invsible secondary axis --- can somebody point out an straight forward process? And I need to do like a tone of times, hopefully is not too troublesome

    thanks a lot in advance!

No time to look at your file right now, so here's the quickie

create the data in the table that shows the actual numbers, not the %
add this data into the chart as a new series
change the series type to be a line chart
format the series to be on the secondary axis
format the series to show the data labels
format the series to have no markers and no line
scale the secondary axis so the labels align with the tops of the bars/columns
    hide the secondary axis.

    alright!

    I'll do my best

I guess that for the values to be in a decent place I need to put the % values in the middle of the bar and not mess around with the min and max for each axis

OK, here's another try, this time with a file attached.

There is a catch: since you have a different number of absolute totals for question one and two, the absolute numbers do not line up nicely with the percentage columns. I did this:

Added the notatall series with the total values
moved the bar to the secondary axis
added the other three series to the chart and the secondary axis
    applied data labels
formatted the new series with no line and no fill (= invisible, but the label still shows)
for the upper cluster set the label alignment to be inside end, for the lower cluster set the label alignment to be outside end, need to select individual labels to apply that formatting option individually.
    deleted new series from legend
set lower axis to have no markers and no labels

It still does not line up nicely enough, so you may want to consider aligning the labels to the inside base or center instead
