different colors in a normal distribution

I have a histogram of normally distributed returns, so the left half of the histogram is negative and the right have positive. How do I give it different colors?

I tried to use 2 different series but that didnt work, as it dumped all the data in the left half of the chart.

    please advise

    thanks

Can you post example workbook, including the 2 series attempt you made.
    Cheers

Plot the 2nd series on the same axis as the same chart type.
Just reduce the number of rows used as the Values .

    Hi Andy,

    Sorry my mistake.

I have added an extra column just to make it clearer.

Once you have the 2 series of columns you need to set Overlap =100 and gapwidth =0

Thanks a lot Andy! that works
by the way, just wondering do Y error bars add value to a chart like this?

Re: different colors in a normal distribution

What would the error bars be attempting to show?

Re: different colors in a normal distribution

Well i'm not sure if it has any use. My chart is basically showing the frequency distribution of daily returns made on say a stock portfolio....i was just wondring what this Y-error bar function is used for, can it be used to show say deviation from a mean?
could it add value in the kind of graph i have here?

I'll mark the thread as solved

    Thanks for the help Andy!

Re: different colors in a normal distribution

If you calculated the deviation from a mean in a range you could then use the custom value for the error bars.

I don't know stats well enough to tell you whether any displayed value would help.
