    Time Axis Area Chart

    Is it possible to plot an area chart with a time axis? I can't get this working.

    Can you post an actual workbook with the chart you have.

    Excel version is 2003 SP3

    If it's all in one day you can name series by that date, that would be best.

    You can put on X axis right click -> Format axisi -> Number -> Date -> choose date with time.. however, it might became slightly unreadable
    Never use Merged Cells in Excel

    Thank you for your response.

    I tried it and I don't see how changing the series name helps. Also there is no time and date option, only time or date unless I choose a custom number format. In any case changing to an area chart just makes the chart blank.

    Area will not go down as far as hh:mm.
    All values will be plotted at the same point.

    You could recalculate the area chart values but it will still be wrong in terms of not being able to plot multiple plots when the x value is repeated.

    So we conclude it is not possible. I have tried to find a work around for this before with no success. Seems such a simple thing to want to do.
