Thanks for the link. I read through it though I'm still not sure exactly what I'm supposed to do.
For example I want the x-axis error in the first data point to be plus and minus 0.03, in the second point it should be plus and minus 0.02, in the third point it should be plus and minus 0.05 etc... How do I do that? This is the first time I've attempted this so some detail instructions would be appreciated.
Not sure how I can explain it any easier. The article has details and pictures.
You need to have the various error bar values in a range, one value for each data point.
You then use the Select Custom to select the range for both pos/neg errors.
If you are still stuck post a workbook
Ok. Here's my attempt. Vertical error bars are fine sine they have a fixed value. I have entered the horizontal error bar values in column C. In the horizontal error bar options I selected custom and then selected all the error values in column C as the value for both positive and negative error (after deleting the default entry). The error bars however still don't much the values in column C.
Thanks again.
Your chart is correct.
Why do you think the error bars are wrong.
Take a look at the point I have altered the values on. It appears to align correctly.
Thanks. I guess I just posted it in a hurry without looking at it too carefully. Also I probably expected it to be wrong because its was my first attempt at doing this.
Anyway thank you. I now know how it works.
