how to make a pie chart out of text values?

I rarely use charts but now it would be useful to make it from a column with just text values. For instance in a column I have: 5 times "reason1", 3 times "reason2", 2 times "reason 3" etc (might be blanks too)
Now I want simply a percentage pie chart with the actual value as a category name.
I can make a row with those category names (reasons) and use "countif" below to make it up in numbers but perhaps there is an easier way ?

no, countif is the way to do it what do you mean an easier way? countif isnt exactly taxing. someone could write code for doing just that but that doesnt make it "easier"

The "difference" is being worked on by the site admins (hopefully), such that in the future there won't be such confusion.
