Question Changing horizontal axis labels problem

    Hello,
I'm using Excel 2007 trying to change the horizontal axis labels for a line chart. In the select data source dialog box I select edit then enter the range of cells I want to use for axis labels, click o.k, and those cells are active selections. That's where it ends I'm not able to click o.k. to get the labels into my chart. Nothing happens at all. All I can do is cancel. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is there a cure? I'm not that profecient in Excel. I'm an on-line student and trying as many resources as possible to find a resolution to this issue. I'd greatly appreciate if someone can tell me why this is happening and how to correct the problem. Thank you.

Have you installed service pack 2?

Can you post the file causing the problem?
    Cheers

Re: Changing horizontal axis labels problem

Thanks for the offer of help. I've attached the worksheet. I don't know if I have service pack 2. This worksheet was working but I was unable to get the desired results for the assignment I was working on. Asking my instructor for help he requested I send a it for him to look at. He sent it back to me and said he had no problem with getting the correct labels copied to the horizontal axis. When I tried it again that's when I wasn't able to get it to do anything beyond creating the active selection. I'll dig around and see if I have service pack two. Thank you.

Re: Changing horizontal axis labels problem

If you have not already installed SP2 you could try the following.

Select the "26% Growth" series and in the formula bar add the range where the labels are. So revised formula would be

    =SERIES(Sheet1!$A$16,Sheet1!$B$15:$F$15,Sheet1!$B$16:$F$16,1)

Also if you removed the text "Estimated Growth Rate" from A15 and put it in A14, excel would make a good guess at the axis labels when selecting the range A15:F18 and creating a new line chart.
