Creating a chart based around certain requirements...

Hi everyone, just a quick question that I have, won't take too much of your time. This question was moved from another board, I am a noob :P Even if someone doesn't want to give a lengthy explanation to my question, just point me in the right direction please? I'm sure I'll find my way, this may be a simple problem but not for me.

I want to have a chart (was hoping for a pie chart, but couldn't figure out how to work it) where I can use one value as the "total" (taken from a specific cell) and have other values (from other cells) inserted to form up the composition of this "total" value, with the difference between the overall total and the additions being displayed as an excess.

Eg: (If I could do this in a pie-chart) I would need:
    1. Total value of pie displayed
    2. Pieces of the pie represent various cells with specific values in them
    3.
The remaining pie will form the last "slice" which will get smaller if values in 2. increase and larger if values in 2. decrease (acts as the remainder of the total).
    4. I want the divisions to represent (at least by the size of the slice) the percentage that each particular slice comprises out of the whole (ie: a slice worth R70 would be shown a "10%" on a graph with a total value of R700)

Also if the total changes then obviously the entire pie size should change. These are my goals, I don't know which chart to use though. If it helps this is for a personal budget, with total income being the size of the pie and various expenses comprising the slices that eat away at the overall pie, with the remaining "last slice" comprising the remaining cash I have remaining (after expenses).

If anyone knows how to help please feel free, i will take any explanation (no matter the length), but these are my goals, can they be done in Excel?

Thanks in advance for any assistance .

I don't think you need the 1 item in the chart.

Pie chart displays all the items as a percentage of all the items. If you include the Total that will always occupy 50% of the pie.

You need to have a summary data point for each item and then a final item that is the difference between total and the other items.

Pies will not handle negative values.
