Columns and (XY)Scatter in same chart

    Hi,

I want to create one chart with columns and a scatter line in the same graph.
I need two y-axis of different scales.
The x-axis should be a time-axis. The columns should appear at the end of the year and the scatter points all through the year.
Please look at the attachement for an example. The columns refer to the left y-axis, the line to the right y-axis.

I hope it's comprehensive. Thank you for your help.

    Can you post your data.

Note that the columns will be very skinny if they reflect only 1 day a in a year.
    Cheers

Woaw, thanks for the fast reply.
The columns represent an average of the year, so they could also be shown in the middle between two years with thick bars (if possible).
    Data for line:
    07.03.2008; 78
    16.07.2008; 62
    17.02.2009; 81
    26.05.2009; 75
    23.12.2009; 80
    12.02.2010; 43
    05.08.2010; 65
    11.10.2010; 68
    29.11.2010; 75

    Data for columns:
    2008; 60%
    2009; 45%
    2010; 57%

    Cheers,
    alexandre

Start by creating a Column chart based on the column data. You will need to include a blank row above and below your data. This will then allow you to set the axis to not cross between categories.

    Add addition data series.
Change to XY scatter chart type
    Set to secondary Y axis
Use source data dialog to set xy-scatter x and y values
Use Chart Options dialog to add seconadry X axis
Format secondary x axis to go from 1/1/2007 to 31/12/2010
uncheck Crosses between categorys for primary x axis.

    Format chart to finish.
