    Chart from password protected worsheets

    Hi there

I have some quality control "summary" spreadsheets set up which collate information from user accessible input worksheets.

As these contain confidential quality information they have to be password protected.

I am trying to create line charts from these password protected summary sheets and was wondering if anyone knew of away to avoid having to type in multiple passwords to update the data?

At the moment they are set up for Jan-Dec for 3 sections so to update all information you have to type in the password 36 times!

Sorry if this is an obvious or repeated question, I had a scan through past questions and couldn't find a relevant answer

    Cheer!

I'm not sure why you would need to unprotect the worksheets to update your charts. Are your charts embedded in your worksheets or on separate tabs? Are you unlocking your worksheets to add additional data to your tables? Do you have fixed ranges in your charts and you need to update them each time you add data?

    Hi

The chart is taking data from 3 lots of "summary" sheets held in different folders on the hard drive so they are not on tabs on the same worksheets.

The sheets aren't necessarily unlocked when opening the chart, ideally I am wanting the chart to be available for managers to view whilst these sheets aren't open.

Yes, they are fixed ranges - 3 team's data over a time period which is being constantly updated when work is being checked and marked.

I'm just looking back and think I've not described it quite right.
The way the folders are set up is that there is a main folder for each of the 3 sections.

Then there is a sub folder for each month which contains the updateable worksheets for gathering the quality information and a password protected summary sheet to collate the figures.

What I have the line graph showing is the overall quality percentage taken from a cell in the password protected summary sheet for each month. Since this is accessing the password protected summary sheets for each monthly entry it's asking for the password each time, it's this process I'm trying to over-ride.

Can you password protect the internal worksheets instead? or set it up as read only? Probably one of the VBA guru's here can set up code which includes your password to access the summary sheets but that's over my head.
