    Question Removing links on chart

    Hi
On my spreadsheet we produce a chart from a set of data, copy it then paste it on another sheet with VBA.

Problem is, this new sheet is saved on its own, but contains links to original data, and if this has changed chart will be wrong.

Can you copy a chart then paste it as it looks originally but removing the links?

This would be a great help.
    Thanks

    Warren

    Hi,

Your problem is that you perceive the chart to be within the sheet, whereas a Chart is separate from the sheet (although may appear within the sheet) thus addresses are of the form Sheet1!~~ etc.
Where the chart is located, in it's own sheet, in the sheet that contains the source data, or in another sheet, is immaterial to the chart, it's addresses are still the same.

To copy the chart for use as another separate chart would mean that your VBA code would also need to adjust the Source locations for the copy, record a macro to see the required code, and then add this code to your 'copy'.

    Hi,

I have the same problem...I want to send out a report and have plotted a graph based on the source data from other sheets but do not want to include source data in the report that i send out.

Basically I want to send a chart out to someone outside ( can't access source data) and still be able to display the chart properly...

    Is this possible?

    thanks

    Eric

    Hi,

your problem is entirely different to the one stated, and as such you need to open a new thread.

    Removing Chart Links

    Hello,

Try to copy the excel chart to Powerpoint then select Paste Special, you will have many options to choose from, you can retain the links from the source data or you can paste the chart as a picture( windows metafile) then select and copy the chart and then paste to excel sheet again.

    Hope this helps you.

    Regards,

    Corine

Another method is to select each Data Series (click on the points so that the Formula Bar shows the Source)
    then
select the contents of the Formula bar, then press F9 to convert the Source to a Data Set.

Your chart can then be moved to whereever, but of course the data will no longer update.

This should still have been a separate thread.
