Application.Screenupdating = false
may do it but no.
Is it possible does anyone know to select your chart but not have the nadles
markers show?

One almost never needs to select a chart (or any other object for that
matter). Set a variable to the chart in question and use that variable.
dim aChart as chart
set aChart=activesheet.chartobjects(1).chart
msgbox achart.seriescollection.count
