pivot table not updating on refresh

Weird issue, and I assume it's just a setting somewhere.

My pivot shows a list of employees and their hours rolled up for a payperiod. This report gets updated daily with total hours. I have filtered out the Zero's but when something else gets added my total has zero as unchecked but also has any other number thats "new" as unchecked.

Is there a way to make sure that all numbers are selected except the "0" upon a refresh ?

The only way I have been successful in getting what you described is to throw the original data into a query. Have the query remove the zeros, and then Export the data to a pivot table.

are you still using XL2007 ?
if not - update your profile and post excel example file to show us your problem

In the field settings, there should be an option for 'include new items in manual filter' that you can select.
