    how to get a one-sided, 180 degree half-polar diagram?

I have an array of data representing speeds according to angles, and it goes from 0 (dead front) to 180 degree (from the back). Obviously 90 degrees is to the right.
If I add this to a polar diagram, 0 and 180 will both be dead front. I can add some paddling from 180-360 degrees, but even then, back will somehow be 200 degrees and it will be pretty lopsided. How to fix this?

(i tried to add a link but not allowed, so if you enter sailing polar daigram into google you get what I am aiming for)

What kind of chart did you try? It sound like you might have tried Excel's built in radar chart, which, IMO, doesn't really do very well for a true polar diagram because it uses treats the "spokes" as categories rather than numbers.

I wonder what Andy Pope's polar plot add-in would do with only half a circle: https://andypope.info/charts/polarplot3.htm

Wikipedia's page mentions some software specifically designed for creating these diagrams. If you are not required to build your own chart in Excel, one of those apps might be easier than building something from scratch in Excel.

If I were creating a half-circle from scratch, I would probably start with my unit circle trig templates https://www.excelforum.com/tips-and-...han-excel.html and cut the chart tables in half so they only go from 0 to 180/pi. Note here that the base chart is an XY scatter chart, not a radar chart, and we are using what we know from trig to convert our polar coordinates to rectangular coordinates in order to chart in Excel's chart.
