changing labels of a bar chart to display other data

Edit to combine two similar (I think) questions. Workbook small update.

Trying to have the labels of a bar chart show other data than the data used to build the chart.

I have 15 "steps" on the horizontal axis. The data used is a number, so for example the first bar (A) has a value of 5 so this would be a bar 1/3 full. I cannot change the data used.

1) Looking to change the labels of the horizontal axis from the numbers 1-15 to something else, for example "name1-name15".

2) Looking to change the data labels inside the bar chart to yet another data set that has dates. For example the first bar (A) has an attached date of 30/jun, so I would like to show 30/jun inside the bar chart as a data label.

Are these possible? I may be using the wrong chart/graph/tool to show what I want to show, if so please tell me where to look.

For (2), you should be able to use the "Values from Cells" option that is in your data labels option dialog: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...rs=en-us&ad=us

For (1), you will need to apply a technique like this (https://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts...egoryAxis.html ) where you add a "dummy" series and create a bar + XY scatter chart, choose appropriate values (if necessary) for the x and y values for the dummy series, then apply data labels to this series and, again, use the 'values from cells' option to show the names.

The add-in mentioned in Peltier's tutorial is needed for those Excel versions before Excel 2013, when Excel made the "data labels as values from cells" option a native feature. You won't need the add-in.
