Answers to charting I think it's called

    Hi,
Can someone help me create an excel file that will do the following? I am not sure what terms to use but I'll describe.
I need to plot numeric values on a chart. I need to plot values to be on a y and z axis. I want the values to plot and then connect from the highest numerical value on the Y axis "left side of chart" to the highest value on the Y axis on the right side of the chart. I need to do this with 4 values and the values need to make a box with all four points connected by 4 lines. Can someone help me make Excel do what is in the picture below?

It looks like a basic XY scatter chart. There are two data series. One data series formatted as markers without lines to show the main data. A second data series formatted as straight lines without markers to "draw" the quadrilateral. Here's how I would expect to create this chart:

    1) Enter data for the markers. X values in one column, Y values in the adjacent column.
    2) In another part of the spreadsheet, enter (or calculate or use a lookup function) to enter the data for the quadrilateral. Same arrangement, X values in one column, Y values in the adjacent column. Excel will connect the points in the order they are in the spreadsheet, so make sure they are ordered to go around the box. Remember that you need to copy the first point into the last point (for a total of 5 points) in order to close the quadrilateral.
    3) Select the data for the markers and insert a scatter chart (markers without lines). If you are unfamiliar with the basic mechanics of creating a chart, this should walk you through the steps to create a basic scatter chart: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...rs=en-us&ad=us If Excel makes any error in interpreting X values and Y values, bring up the Select Data dialog and fix Excel's mistakes.
    4) Bring up the Select Data dialog and add a data series. Tell Excel where you stored the X and Y values for drawing the quadrilateral.
    5) Select the 2nd, quadrilateral data series and format to have no marker and to have straight lines.
    6) Add, remove, and format chart elements as desired.

    Does that help?
