Post How to plot "jumps" in a graph?

I wonder how can i plot graphs with a jump at a certain point in excel. The condition is a cash flow of a company. The company receives money from client at the end of a month, so the cash in curve will have a sudden increase at that point. For the graph, the x axis xan be treated as "end of month 1/2/3...etc."

However scatter graph in excel join points with straight line/ curves.
I can only plot a graph as below. (The value is different because I am using different example). But the condition is same that the company still receives money from client at the end of a month.

I wonder if there is any function in excel that allows me to plot the "jumps" ? Thank you very much!!

I'm not aware of a built in "step chart" utility, but it should be easy enough in a regular scatter chart. You would need to "double" your points to make the steps:
    x -- y
    x0 -- y0
    x1 -- y0
    x1 -- y1
    x2 -- y1
    x2 -- y2
    x3 -- y2
    x3 -- y3
    and so on
Note how each value is duplicated and the y values are kind of offset from the x values by one row. Arrange you r data like that and use a scatter chart and your "step chart" should be easy to create.

Google for "Step Charts" on my blog peltiertech.com. (Unfortunately this forum isn't letting me post actual links.)
