Can't Group and Numbers not in Order

    Hi,

Desperately trying to analyse a baseline report for my organisation.

On my computer it's showing all the numbers with a green tag saying the numbers have been recorded as text. This isn't happening to my colleague's version.

I have followed the Word help guide and tried to 'text to columns', I have tried copying a blank cell and adding the value, I have also tried highlighting and formatting all cells to numbers. Nothing seems to solve it and it's preventing me from grouping age/income/all the fiddly stuff.

I'm trying to do it manually with filters, which is taking forever, especially as when I try to list the numbers in order (A-Z) it's listing 10,000, 10,500, 11,000 but then further down' I'm seeing 3,000 listed above 30,000 rather than after 2,000.

I'm about to set fire to my computer.

    Please help.

    Windows 10
    Office 365
    Excel

Any chance you can attach your spreadsheet?

Can I send it privately? It's not entirely anonymised and sensitive subject matter.

I didn't notice the paste special multiply method listed among those you have tried.
    As per support office :

Use Paste Special and Multiply to convert more than one column of text.
    1. Select a blank cell that doesn't have this problem, type the number 1 into it, and then press Enter.
    2. Press CTRL + C to copy the cell.
    3. Select the cells that have numbers stored as text.
    4. On the Home tab, click Paste > Paste Special.
    5. Click Multiply, and then click OK. Excel multiplies each cell by 1, and in doing so, converts the text to numbers.

As to uploading a sample spreadsheet, probably all that we need to see are the numbers themselves unless there is something in the other columns that is used for grouping and ordering the numbers.
