Mystery column in a PT

I have a PT that has a mystery column that is not in the data source, nor is it a calculated column. Googling found lots of hits about calculated columns, and one hit with the same question as mine, but that had no responses.

The attached screenshots show the PT, the calc'd columns, the data source, and the field/column properties.

Since it's not a calc'd column, where else could Column A be getting its source data from?

Can you attach a workbook with the pivot table.

Go Advanced -> Manage Attachments -> Upload

Could be a grouping...maybe.

In fact it is a grouping, see how the Source Name is Item Description2...it is a grouping of Item Description with a Custom Name.

We didn't suspect that the column came from grouping because the values are different. So did the author just type ConAgra into column A (after the grouping was defined)?

Interesting. I just tested it by creating a new PT, then creating a group, then renaming the group name (column A). That worked.

Yes the names in the column can be changed to anything, hence why they aren't in your source data.
