My pivot table is not showing the same values as the source data

    Hi all,

I have a pivot which is linking as a connection to a table of data which shows figures from Jan 2016 to March 2018. (I used PowerQuery to add a date attribute to my source data and saved it as a connection)

So I refreshed my source data with March 2018 figures, refreshed my pivot which has picked up March, but the figures across all months are slightly off on some of them.
I have no filters on my pivot which could be causing the numbers to be different, I literally have NO idea why it's showing different numbers.

I tried creating a new connection, and a new pivot, and the exact same numbers show up.

It's really hard to explain on here as I can't share the pivot - as it links to sensitive company data so I need theoretical troubleshooting!

    Does anyone have any ideas???

Almost impossible to add any value, without anything to work with.

Try anonymising a set of data in a copy of your workbook, and attach it.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.
let Source = #table({"Question","Thread", "User"},{{"Answered","Mark Solved", "Add Reputation"}}) in Source

If I give you Power Query (Get & Transform Data) code, and you don't know what to do with it, then CLICK HERE

    Hi Olly,

So the strangest thing. I anonymised the data, refreshed the pivot, and the correct numbers appeared. Thinking that I had fixed the problem, I de-anonymised the data, refreshed the pivot again, and the wrong numbers appeared again.

So the connection seems to be ignoring certain figures, until I change the attribute name? I have never come across anything like this before.

So i've just gone through a process of replacing one letter in my attributes at a time and refreshing the pivot each time - it changes to the correct numbers when I replace the letter N with an ^
I can't show my data to stakeholders like this, but if I replace the ^ with the N, the numbers go back to being wrong.

Fixed it. There were #n/a in one attribute, the find/replace was removing the N so the query wasn't seeing it as an error anymore. Pure coincidence I found out that way, but Olly - your suggestion did in fact help me solve it!
I've spend 4 hours today on this!
