    Multiple sheet pivot table, data source has been modified HELP

    Hi all. Newbie to this forum and a beginner user in pivot tables, but 8 months ago I created a multiple sheet pivot table from two sheets whose data columns were different (can't remember doing this, but I did). For the past 8 months I've been refreshing the sheets with data from Access tables and refreshing the pivot tables daily.

    I've been asked to create a 30 day average of an existing 28 day moving average and add the values to the current pivot table. I've added the column and calculations to one of the original data sheets that feeds the pivot table and refreshed the pivot table. My problem is .... when i pull up the available field list, the newly added data element is not an option to add to the pivot table. Without starting from scratch and creating a new multi-sheet pivot table, is there a way to have the new column become available via drop down menu on the pivot table field list selection box?
    If this is possible it would save me tons of time trying to remember how I did this in the first place.

    Any suggestions would be tremendously appreciated.
    Thanks in advance for help!
    Peter

    Have you changed the source data of the pivot table to include the new column(s)?

    Thanks for the reply! Yes I have. It's a calculated field I created in the rightmost column of the worksheet that is fed daily with the contents of and Access database I import each business day.

    I'm not sure you understood what I was saying;

    The pivot table needs to know that the new columns are to be included in the pivot otherwise they won't appear as a field. Just because they are in the sheet won't include them in the pivot.

    Toolbar - Analyze>Change Data Source

    That must be the problem. How do I change the source data in the pivot table?

    Aha. My toolbar doesn't have an Analyze option. Before I saw your post, I selected Manage Data Model, thinking that might lead me to a solution and was given the error message "Power Pivot is unable to load Data Model"

    You need to have a cell anywhere in your pivot table selected for Analyze to appear.

    Re: Multiple sheet pivot table, data source has been modified HELP

    I'm an idiot. Awesome. I see it. And looking at the data range reminded me how I did this this 8 months ago. It's not a multiple sheet pivot table. I created a single worksheet that references the two sheets I feed with data. That's the source of the pivot table. I think I just need to add a column to it, and reference the source sheet a modified based on the new request.

    I think I can take it from here. Thanks so much for your help!! It would have taken me hours to track this down on my own. It's 1:30am here in the U.S. .... I can go to bed knowing I can resolve this tomorrow.
    Thank you again!
