Lock Formatting in a Pivot Table

Hello,

I have a pivot table with many columns. Some columns are percentages, some are dollar amounts. I have some columns formatted as "Accounting" and other columns as "Percentage". However when I refresh the pivot table it returns everything to "General". I have the "preserve cell formatting on update" box checked so I'm not sure what is going on. Any ideas?

It depends on where you change the formats. If you are using the "regular" formatting to format sheet cells, they may not "take." On the other hand if you want to preserve formatting in the pivot table no matter where it may sprawl, right click on a field of interest and select Value Field. One of the options on the lower left is for format. Change it there, and it will change for wherever that field is used in the pivot table.
