Separate 4 columns of data into 2 cumulative bars

    Hi all,

I think the title says all. I want to make a bar chart with 2 cumulative bars out of 4 columns of data. Hence, bar 1 represents the cumulative value of column 1 and 2, while bar 2 represents the data of column 3 and 4. How can I do this?

For clarification purposes I added an Excel document. I want to compare the product 1 + product 2 bar with the product 1* + product 2* bar. Hope this helps.

    Regards!

I can't think of a way to show 4 series in two groups if they are all the same kind of chart. You can get a comparison between the two groups if each group is its own kind of chart.

So I took the product 1* and product 2* and added them to the chart. This gave me a 4-section stacked column chart. Then I changed series chart type for product 1* and product 2* to stacked line with markers. I removed the lines and increased the marker size to 10 points.

This leaves some ugly markers on the X-axis. I don't know how to get rid of them.

One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

Re: Separate 4 columns of data into 2 cumulative bars

    Thanks for your help djlak.

I would prefer it if it could be both in bars: bar 1 representing product 1 + product 2 (actual results) and bar 2 representing product 1* + product 2* (expected results).
Is there someone who knows how to do it?

See this solution by means of a PivotTable
